UFC 111 airs this Saturday with Spike TV starting the live coverage at 9pm ET/6pm PT and then the main card will be aired at 10pm ET/7pm PT on Pay-Per-View. The main event features Georges St. Pierre vs. Dan Hardy for the UFC welterweight championship. The co-main event also features a title match between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin for the interim heavyweight championship. This event has exciting fights from top to bottom and will truly be one that you don't want to miss.
Georges "Rush" St. Pierre Vs. Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy
This is going to be one of the best fights of 2010. I am expecting this to be a war, as neither of these fighters are easy to finish. Expect GSP to control the pace and punish Hardy on the ground. Hardy's heart and strength will get him to the championship rounds but expect his gas tank to run out sometime in the fourth round. GSP will end up winning the fight by TKO or submission from strikes in the late rounds.
Frank Mir Vs. Shane Carwin
A fight between two of the biggest heavyweights in the UFC and also two of the most powerful. I don't see this fight going anywhere near a decision and should be finished in the first couple rounds. Frank Mir's superior submission skills are going to allow him to weather the early stand-up storm from Carwin and catch Carwin in an arm bar or leg lock. Mir will win with a submission early in the fight and get his shot at revenge against Brock Lesnar.
Jon Fitch Vs. Ben "Killer B" Saunders
Saunders deserves a lot of respect for taking this fight in the very last minute, especially against someone as tough as Fitch. Fitch's teammate, Mike Swick, recently defeated Saunders and will surely be giving him tips on how to avoid Killer B's deadly knees. This is going to be a classic wrestler vs. striker match-up and Fitch's superior wrestling is going to allow him to win by decision.
Kurt "Batman" Pellegrino Vs. Fabricio Camoes
This should be a tough ground battle between two very strong ground fighters. Pellegrino will win a close decision with his superior wrestling skills controlling Camoes for most of the fight.
Jim Miller Vs. Mark Bocek
Miller and Bocek are very similar fighters and both have outstanding submission skills. The difference in this fight is going to be Miller's experience in fighting tougher opponents and this will help Miller win by submission in the 2nd round.
Nate Diaz Vs. Rory Markham
Diaz makes his UFC debut at 170, jumping up from 155. The jump up in weight divisions is not going to bother him and he will submit Markham in the early rounds.
Matt Brown Vs. Ricardo Almeida
This will be the opening fight on Spike and will be an exciting fight. This will be a close fight but expect Brown to get caught in a submission by Almeida late in the fight.
Rodney Wallace Vs. Jared Hamman
Expect this fight to be a close fight that, with Wallace pulling off the unanimous decision win, in what is probably a "loser leaves the UFC match."
Rousimar Palhares Vs. Tomasz Drwal
Palhares will evade the strikes of Drwal and catch Drwal with a submission late in the 2nd round.
Matt Riddle Vs. Greg Soto
Soto will keep his undefeated record and defeat Riddle by controlling him on the ground.
