Thiago Alves and Jon Fitch will meet for the second time at UFC 115 in Vancouver, Canada. They were originally signed to fight at UFC 111 but Alves had to withdraw because of a brain irregularity. Alves has had successful brain surgery and is eager to get back inside the octagon. Fitch did end up fighting on the UFC 111 card and defeated Ben Saunders by decision. After the fight Fitch was pushing for another title shot, however most fans haven't been eager to see a second Fitch vs. Georges St. Pierre fight. Fitch has gone 12 and 1 in the UFC, but his lack of finishing his opponents leaves Dana White reluctant to give him another shot at GSP.
This fight needs to happen for both these fighters and to give the UFC a possible number one contender to GSP's title. As of right now there is a group of 4-5 possible contenders in the UFC's welterweight division. With Paul Daley fighting Josh Koscheck at UFC 113 and Fitch vs. Alves now set for UFC 115, GSP's next opponent will become clearer.
