UFC 112 Results

UFC 112 was suppose to be one the best UFC events of 2010 but instead it turned out to be one of the worst. The title fights were boring and awkward, especially the performance by Silva. Silva came out and looked very good early on but then he started to taunt Maia instead of going for the finish, just like he did when he fought Thales Leites. Then things got even weirder in rounds 4 and 5 when Silva was running from Maia not fighting at all. Dana White was cleary upset at Silva and left during the 4th round after yelling at Silva's corner. The Ref even called time in the 5th to warn Silva that he was going to take a point away if Silva kept on running. This resulted in the fans chanting for Maia and even for GSP who was ringside for the fight. Silva did not make any fans after this performance and was lucky to get the win.

The Penn and Edgar fight was another somewhat boring fight. Penn looked good in the first 2 rounds establishing his jab and controlling the stand-up but really slowed down in rounds 3-5. Edgar fought a smart fight and did win the last 3 rounds but it looked like he was fighting the old BJ Penn. Penn seemed to have no heart and gassed in the late rounds. What was awkward about this fight was that not once did BJ try to take this fight to the ground, where he is one of the best in the UFC. It was a very odd performance by Penn but a well deserved win for Edgar.
